Hiking and Biking Trails in the Georgia Mountains
One of the great things about Dalton, Tunnel Hill and Whitfield County is the variety of outdooor adventures waiting for you to discover them just a few minutes off I-75. Unlike other cities who lure you to drive miles out of your way, you can get to our natural attractions quickly. For example, the Disney Trail, which Georgia Trails considers to be one of the most scenic hikes in the state, is less than a minute from Exit 336 on I-75. The same is true about the start of the Pinhoti Trail and Dug Gap Battlefield Trail, where Civil War buffs can relive the stand made by Confederate soldiers who were outnumbered 10 to 1.

Pinhoti Trail - National Forest Service
706-638-1085
245 mile multi-use route which will be the state's longest trail when complete. It will connect the Talladega National Forest in Alabama to the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. Completed sections of the Pinhoti - which means "turkey" in Cherokee - are blazed with turkey feet.
In Dalton, the trail is accessible across from Dug Gap Battle Park, or at Hwy. 136 West at I-75 Exit 333.

Disney Trail
This steep trail ascends Rocky Face, a mountain west of Dalton. It is the most challenging trails in northwest Georgia and the most challenging short trail in the state. The trail gets its name from the grave of Confederate soldier George Disney at the end of the hike.
Directions: I-75, Exit 336, Hwy. 41 north to the Nazarene Church on the left. The trail access is located behind the church.

Share the Road signs may help drivers and cyclists alike be more aware of each other's presence on the road.
