Liberty Tree Festival
More than 230 years ago, American rebels met beneath “liberty trees” to plan their revolt against England.

One by one, those trees passed away. But before the final liberty tree fell in Maryland in 1991, a conservation group saved seeds and created 14 new liberty trees, one for each of the original 13 British colonies and one for the White House lawn.

Two years ago, Georgia’s Liberty Tree was planted at Dalton City Hall. Dalton officials have now proclaimed October 18th Liberty Tree Day. The city will have an annual Liberty Tree Festival in October.
